DEFRA SOP 1: Genetic identification of traditional breeds of cattle using DNA SNP markers
Scope
This method is suitable for the qualitative identification of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) belonging to Angus, Red Poll, Hereford and Welsh Black cattle breeds. The assay is designed to work with raw, boiled, fried, or baked meat as well as skin samples. It is not suitable for the identification of complex meat products containing DNA from multiple breeds.
