SOP Bushmeat Bioanalyser

Standard operating procedure for the genetic identification of common African wildmeat species
using the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer

This method is suitable for the qualitative identification of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) belonging to any of eleven mammalian species known to be imported into the UK as ‘bushmeat’, and that are listed in Appendix 1. The assay is designed to work with raw, boiled, fried, or baked meat as well as skin samples. It is not suitable for the identification of complex meat products containing DNA from multiple species, or species not listed in Appendix I.
