Final Optimisation and Evaluation of DNA Based Methods for the Authentication and Quantification of Meat Species

Abstract:
The project allowed the successful identification of a DNA extraction protocol and real-time PCR assays for the qualitative determination of common species present in complex foods, and which are suitable to assist public analysts and enforcement laboratories. Also, a set of standard operating procedures for these methods has been provided to the Food Standards Agency.
